Most lipsticks are full of chemicals, I use one full of food!

Back in August last year, I wrote a post about the toxins in personal beauty care. I know a few of you were shocked to find out that 60% of what we put on our skin is absorbed straight into our blood supply. In that same article I made this statement:

“If you wouldn’t put it in your mouth, why would you put it on your skin? It ends up in the same place”

Like any woman making the transition from mainstream products to more natural ones, I have looked into and tried so many products, in search of something that won’t poison me, but still gives me that feminine rush of pleasure to use. Enter Luk Beautifood

The amazing women behind the company is Cindy Luken, a food scientist and product developer with a passion for beautiful, clean food. She has mastered the connection between food, beauty and life. Read more about her story here

But lets get to the exciting bit – Luk Lip Nourish

Cindy makes this lipstick at home in her Beauty Kitchen using food! Yep, actual food. Think avocado oil thats rich in vitamin E to moisturise and soften your lips, juniper berries to tone and heal your lips, and vitamin C rich lime and pink grapefruit.  You can use this beautiful lipstick knowing there are no nasty ingredients lurking beneath clever marketing, just honest, natural ingredients. Check it our for yourself. This is the ingredients in the Orange and Juniper Lip Nourish (one of my 3 current favourites)

Avocado (Persea americana) Oil, Castor (Ricinus communis) Oil, Sesame (Sesamum indicum) Oil, Candelilla (Eupohorbia Certifera) Wax, Jojoba Esters, Carnauba (Copernicia Cerifera) Wax, Isopropyl Jojobate, Jojoba Alcohol, Beeswax (Cera Alba), Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride, Corn Starch, Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Tocopherol , Lecithin, Juniper Berry (Juniperus communis) Oil, Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) Oil, Grapefruit Pink (Citrus paradise) Oil, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Mica, Iron Oxide (CI 77491).

What’s a make up post without a little selfie?! Here I have on my Lemon & Mint Lip Nourish and the 100% Pure Black Tea Mascara which is also pigmented with fruit and smells lovely!

It’s so nice being able to feel feminine and pretty without the guilt of loading my body with unnecessary chemicals that usually come with make-up.
